2013 Utah All-State Band

Just last week I had the amazing opportunity to be a member of the 2013 Utah All-State Band. I sent in an audition tape a few weeks prior and to my surprise, received an email notifying me I had been selected as on of 213 high school students to perform at Abravanel hall in January. I was delighted! Once the weekend of the concert came, we had chair placements, I was placed fourth. The concert was amazing and I had such a wonderful time. While on one of our breaks, the Westlake Band director approached me and offered me a job to help staff over the flutes/woodwinds for next years marching band!! DREAM JOB!!!!! I am SO excited to get to be a staff member with their band next year. Although, I do think it's quite funny: I might be the same age and even younger than some of their Senior flutes!!

Ahh! I’ve been accepted to BYU-Idaho! I’m so excited! This is the school that I’ve REALLY wanted to go to! So when I got the news you can imagine my excitement! I quickly ran downstairs to tell my dad and called my mom as fast as I could! It literally is a dream come true! In February I’ll be going to the campus with my Mom and Dad to audition for a Music Scholarship I’ve been working on for the past few months. It’s a cRaZy Scholarship with lot’s of things to perform so I’m crossing my fingers I’ll do good :).

Thank you to my mom and dad for all of the help, love, and support they have given to me. My dad helped me write all of my essays and for that I'm very grateful. I love them both with all my heart and don't know what I would do without them! I love you :)

Somebody's been a bad, bad blogger :\

Like everybody else... I've been a bad blogger. It's been a pretty eventful month for me... full of good and sad times, memorable moments, and just pure randomness :).

Hmmm... where should I start? :)

We went on a BEAUTIFUL hike (hanging lake) and this is what it was! Isn't it gorgeous? There was a big tree that had fallen over into the middle of the lake so we walked across it into the middle of the water.

On the hike there was a cute little house thingy so..... obviously we to took a picture :)

I got a new set of scriptures (on the right) for my birthday. I compared them to my old set of scriptures (on the left). I love my old scriptures, but there is something great about having more pages to mark up and write on that makes me smile :)

SENIOR YEAR!!!!!!!! Ahhhh!! This is my Student ID card. I'm actually really happy with my picture this year! :) Which is always a good thing, right? 

After the Ward Luau I brought a bunch of my crazy friends over to my house and watched Psych and ate popcorn (and beef jerky... if you're Callie).

***My Dreams Have Come True***

About a month ago (give or take a few days) I tried out for Marching Band and what band I would be in next year. I've REALLY wanted to be in Wind Symphony! It's always been a goal of mine to be in the top band at our high school my Senior year. The past two years I've been in Symphonic Band... which is still really good... being in the second top band my sophmore and junior year.
So I've been really worried and stressed about it because I didn't know if he would pick me or not. He only picks four flute players, one of which needs to be a piccolo player. I tried not to get too excited, because I thought for sure I probably wouldn't be in this band. And when I got a 2 on my solo for Solo and Ensembel night, it freaked me out even more! Because all the flutes around me were getting 2+ and 1- and 1!
But just the other day, he posted the list and to my pleasant surprise... my name was second on the list! :) I was SO happy I screamed so loud and I think I almost cried! It was probably the greatest day of my life and I cannot wait to get to play in the American Fork Wind Symphony my senior year! :)

...Happy Valentines Day...

Just wanted to say a quick Happy Valentines Day and say how much I LOVE YOU! :)

And a quick update! :) (Just so I can change my posting from California to something new!) .........
*sigh* well, school is starting to be a real drag! Tests and homework and projects are all being piled on me and I honestly don't know when I'll have the time to be able to complete each of these. My only hope is that I DON'T procrastinate them!! :) {I'm en excellent procrastinator!}

In english we've been learning about GOTHIC writing! Let me just say, this is my favorite type of writing! Why? Because it includes my very most favorites! {Harry Potter, Fablehaven, etc. --->>> you get the picture!} And now I get to write my own Gothic novelette {5-10 pages} on a mental illness, and I have to make it... shall we say, scary????? So... any ideas on how to write a freaky story so I can win the contest? They would be marvelous! :)

Band auditions and Solo and Ensemble night and MARCHING BAND! Eek! It's coming again so fast! I'm so not ready for it, but yet I'm so excited I just can't wait for summer to come to begin working hours in the sun, playing my instrument, marching around the parking lot, and the thing I love most... my friends!!!!
I just did band auditions yesterday and got on three mistakes (which I'm pretty proud of). Tuesday the 28th is our Solo and Ensemble night and I have successfully picked out my flute piece, but I'ms till in dire need of a piano player! :) Haha, hopefully I can find one soon!
